Diet Success Stories: You Can Do It Too!!

There are hundreds of diet success stories out there. Some may think that they’re just made up by weight loss product manufacturers. But some of these stories are true. I would know, because it happened to me.

Before I came aboard the weight loss wagon, I carted a whopping 350-pound body around. I admit it wasn’t easy being fat. But losing all that fat was much, much harder than gaining it. I have tried everything, from the vinegar diet and Atkins to the vegan and South Beach. There was even a point when I started to gain weight instead of shedding some.

When I finally realized that diet fads are really just fads, I scoured the Internet for other things that I might try. I was that desperate. I came across one losing weight blog that said that taking diet pills has helped him shed off extra pounds. One of my friends has gone this route before and it did not work so I decided against the pill. Again, I was on the hunt for more diet success stories.

Another diet blog I read emphasized the importance of exercise in weight loss. I have been exercising for a long time and look where it got me. But as I read on, I realized what I have been doing wrong. True, I have been sweating bullets in the gym. After that, I sweat bullets eating my favorite meat lover’s pizza and downing it with two cans of soda. That’s where I was wrong. That’s why some people never get to write their own diet success stories. We sabotage our own efforts!

It was a good thing my wife was supportive of my goal. She also searched for diet success stories that might help me lose weight and encouraged me to write my own. She also suggested that I start a weight loss diary so I can keep track of what I eat and my progress.

After weeks of reading, here’s what I found: eating small meals five to six times in a day and exercising regularly works wonders. As it turns out, having frequent meals speeds up my metabolic process. It did not mean I could keep shoveling “bad food” into my mouth, even in small amounts. I still needed to watch what I ate.

It was hard at first, turning my back on a juicy burger and ordering a garden salad instead. It was even harder during poker nights but I was determined to write my share of those diet success stories. So I labored on. I asked my ever so supportive wife to stock the pantry with nuts and whole wheat crackers and refrain from buying snacks that were bad for me. Not even Snackwells.

I now eat a light breakfast, munch on crackers at 9AM, have a garden salad or a deli sandwich for lunch (Low fat chicken or turkey), have a cup of yogurt with fruits at 3PM and eat a light dinner when I got home. Because I keep eating the whole day, the amazing thing is, I never feel hungry anymore. Oh, it’s not always a walk in the park of course, but it gets easier each day. It is indeed a lifestyle change, but I was determined, just like others, to write, to live and contribute diet success stories that will inspire others.

I am proud to say that I have lost 30 pounds in three months. And I know that if I keep at it, I could lose more. My story is but one of many diet success stories around. If I can do, I’m confident that you can, too. And yes, it is indeed a lifestyle change, no doubt about it.

One very important thing, for this effort to succeed, you’ll need a willing partner who won’t mind giving up the ice cream!
